At the suggestion of former Carrboro Arts Committee member Sharmin Mirman, the Carrboro Arts Committee voted at their January11, 2010 meeting to hold the first annual Carrboro Community Art Project. We will be hanging art created by people who live, work, or play in Carrboro, in the Century Center and Carrboro Town Hall during the months of May and June, 2010. The artwork will be on display to coincide with Carrboro Day and 101st. 2ndFriday ArtWalk.
Art must meet these specifications:

  • The theme is "Carrboro"
  • Anyone who lives, works or plays in Carrboro may submit
  • Maximum size of entry is 16 x 20
  • One entrant per person
  • No jury - all pieces properly framed and wired will be accepted
  • Any medium that can be safely hung
  • Pieces must be ready to hang with wiring or will not be accepted
  • Download and complete the entry form (coming soon) with contact info and a statement (optional) and bring with piece
  • Pieces can be priced and sold, but the sale is between the artist and buyer
  • The Carrboro Community Art Project Committee will accept submissions on Saturday, April 24th. from 10 am until 1 pm at the Century Center, at 100 North Greensboro St. in Carrboro. Please contact Carrboro Community Art Project Committee Chair Sharmin Mirman at if there is problem and alternative arrangements need to made for delivery of your piece.

    An opening reception will be held on May 14 at the Century Center and Carrboro Town Hall in conjunction with the 2ndFriday ArtWalk. Participating artists are asked to bring finger food (no utensils needed stuff) and/or beverages.

    Art pickup at the end of the show will be at the Century Center on Saturday, June 26th. from 10 am until 1 pm. Again, please contact Sharmin if there is a problem and alternative arrangements are needed.
