The ArtsCenter nourishes the arts, creativity, and community
through education, performance and exhibition.

For over thirty-five years the ArtsCenter in Carrboro has functioned as a dynamic artistic center for the community. It features a nonstop calendar of art classes, world-music, theater, children and family programming, and art exhibits. The facilities include a theater, classrooms, a dance studio, an informal performance space, and an art gallery. The ArtSchool offers a wide array of classes and workshops ranging from botanical drawing to artisan bread making to salsa dancing. Nearly 100 classes are available each trimester of the year for all ages and all levels of experience. The classes are taught by professional artists in a non-competitive, hands-on environment.

On weekends, the sounds of energizing bluegrass, melodic folk songs, soulful blues guitar and much more emanates from the Earl and Rhoda Wynn and West End Theater. The ArtsCenter presents community bands, aspiring songwriters, national and internationally touring professionals, and emerging artists from across the musical spectrum.

Family entertainment is centered around two programs. The SuperFun series features artists dedicated to sharing drama, musical theater, puppetry, story telling, and music of all kinds with children and their families. The School Show series offers performances for area schools which enrich the school curricula in language arts, social studies, science, and the cultural arts.

The ArtsCenter hosts productions by some of the Triangle's many professional theater companies, including Transactors Improv Co., Flying Machine, and Open Door.
