Carrboro Hosts the Annual CD and Record Show

Attention record, CD, and music memorabilia dealers, or anyone with these items looking to sell or trade. The Carrboro CD and Record Show will take place Sunday, November 8th. at Century Hall in the Carrboro Century Center from Noon - 6 p.m.

Admission is free and open to the public. Six foot tables are available for $45 each.

The show is the brainchild of Gerry Williams, former Music Program Director/Operations Manager at the ArtsCenter and onetime owner of Roots CD & Vinyl in Carrboro. Williams is currently a concert promoter and Internet broker of music and music memorabilia. Gerry sees this event as a great opportunity for individual collectors, as well as dealers, to buy, sell, and trade their music collections.

"This isn't just old LPs, but cool music related memorabilia, as well as new and used CDs and LPs - and almost every musical style imaginable is represented. There's something for everyone," says Williams.

This show will feature local folks, as well as out-of-towners, coming together in Carrboro for this annual show of music. Last year between 500 and 600 folks showed up for the event, and Williams expects an even better turn out this year. Remember LPs? There will plenty of those on hand, as well as new and used CDs. So bring in your CDs, dust off your old albums and come and join the fun. You never know what treasures you may find.

Music shoppers sift through boxes at the Century Center in Carrboro Williams is one of the original organizers of the Carrboro Music Festival, which began in 1997. The Festival, which is an annual Carrboro event on the last Sunday in September, was formerly known as Fête de la Musique, an event celebrated worldwide on the summer solstice. The event was moved to September in 2002. The date switch proved to be a wise one and the festival continues to grow each year. Last year over 500 musicians performed on more than 20 stages all over town throughout the day. Gerry has headed up the event for the last 7 years.
