The Ongoing Saga

The latest trend in employment seems to be turning away from the conventional office setting, with more and more Moms and Dads working out of their offices at home. While this offers practical solutions to downsizing, most people think you've got it made if you're working from home, which is not always the case. As with anything, it has its good and bad points.

As more and more folks realize that it isn't any longer necessary to be under the thumb of some overbearing boss who couldn't care less about you and your needs, working for yourself from home has become one of the most popular alternatives for today's entrepreneur. But it does have drawbacks. Chief among them, if there are kids in the house, is that what you are doing isn't actually "work?" How this misconception was originated is beyond me. There's nothing like a couple of screaming kids standing behind you in your home office to inspire you to create. "I'M WORKING!" has become a popular refrain, be it heeded or not.

I have to admit that it is nice to make your own hours (as long as the younguns are at school) and truly enjoy what you're doing, without having to answer to someone who has no idea where you're coming from, and is your "boss." Geez, how many years did I waste doing that? Then again, since they helped me get to where I am now, they really weren't wasted at all. Life has some funny lessons. It sure would be nice to have some health insurance though. The gambles we are forced to face.

There are numerous money making schemes out there, but the truth is, to truly succeed in life, you have to find something you love to do and work until you are great at it. You can't help but succeed.

My checking account is overdrawn, my credit cards are maxed. If it weren't for my sister Barb bailing me out of the latest repair on our 1991 Safari minivan, I'd be walking right now. Ah, this is the life!

Tune in tomorrow, or maybe next week, next month, or next year, for more words of wisdom...
