“Woman of the Whirled” is from a series of pieces I began last year. The closed solid forms continue to evolve and get more complex. When these forms take on human scale and start to move, the surprise to the eye creates a charge to the senses. Add to that the play of light over the refracting surface of the stainless steel and this inorganic material truly seems to come to life. I don’t often get caught by an idea that has me exploring in a themed series quite as tightly related from one piece to the next as this series has been: I’m still not sensing an end to it.
